How can I volunteer?

 Shands HealthCare is always accepting applications for volunteers. Visit the Hospitals section to learn about each hospital's volunteer program.

What is Senior Advantage, and how do I join?

 Senior Advantage is a health-benefits club coordinated by Shands at AGH for adults 55 years old and older in North Central Florida. There is no fee to join. Members enjoy benefits at Shands at AGH such as VIP-admitting and a private hospital room at a semi-private room rate when available. Members can also attend monthly health seminars and two health fairs per year and receive a quarterly newsletter. What is Women’s Advantage, and how do I join?

 Women’s Advantage is a membership-benefit program designed to enhance the health and lifestyle of women of every age. Membership is free. Members enjoy many benefits such as discounted health screenings and monthly women’s health seminars. Is there a special health program for professionals?

 The Executive Health Center focuses on caring for busy professionals through complete head-to-toe medical examinations organized in one visit within a luxuriant and comfortable setting designed for efficiency. What is Shands Arts in Medicine, and how do I become a part of the program?

 Shands Arts is Medicine is an internationally recognized program that incorporates specially trained artists and hospital volunteers with patients and their families to enhance the healing process through the use of creative arts. The program encourages self-expression through activities such as the visual arts, dance, music, drama and the literary arts. For more information about AIM, call (352) 265-0151 or e-mail the program director, Tina Mullen, at mullecm@shands.ufl.edu.

 If you or a family member is a patient at Shands at UF, Shands at AGH or Shands Medical Plaza and would like to interact with an AIM artist, call (352) 265-0151. Leave the name and room number of the patient, and an artist will visit.
