Nursing care involves patient assessment, assisting physicians with patient procedures, administration of medications, and patient education. Nursing staff are given yearly competencies, continuing education, and training sessions throughout the year to stay updated on procedures, medications, and therapy. UFP specialty clinics for both adults and pediatrics include pulmonary, rheumatology, immunology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, nephrology, post-renal transplant, liver failure and post-liver transplant, oncology, cardiology, dermatology, hematology, and neurology. UFP surgical clinics include general surgery, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT), cardiovascular and cardiothoracic, trauma, urology, and plastic surgery. |

Specialty clinics include medical specialties' clinics
for adults and pediatrics as well as surgical specialty clinics. University of
Florida Physicians' (UFP) specialty clinics provide comprehensive evaluation and
treatment for a variety of adult and pediatric specialties within a comprehensive,
resident-based clinic practice. A multidisciplinary team applies its knowledge
and skills to achieving comprehensive medical care, health maintenance, and preventative
services. This team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners (ARNPs), physician’s
assistants, dieticians, social services, practical nurses, patient care assistants,
financial counselors, and support staff. Referrals to all hospital services
and outside agencies are coordinated as appropriate by the multidisciplinary team members.
