Our entire facility serves as a dedicated 40-bed unit (six private and 12 semi-private large and spacious rooms) focused on restoring, maintaining and promoting optimal patient health. The patient population ranges in age from young adult to geriatric, with an average stay of 11 days.

A low (1:5) nurse/patient ratio enables the Shands Rehab team to provide quality inpatient and outpatient care. And we encourage our nurses to achieve CCRN status through hospital-funded prep courses and exams. It is key that we have the knowledge and expertise to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients’ physical and functional response to treatment for:

• traumatic/non-traumatic spinal cord/brain injuries
• cerebrovascular accidents
• orthopaedic conditions
• major multiple trauma
• amputation
• burns
• neurological conditions (Multiple Sclerosis, Guillan-Barre)

Graduate nurses are welcome to join our team and provide preceptor and didactic training during their first six weeks. We also offer on-site in-service education, free CEUs and BLS training to promote advancement.
