A Message from the CNO
Alicia B. Layne, BSN, RN, Certified Nurse Administrator, Board-Certified, Director of Patient Care Services
Nursing in a rural community, critical access hospital has rewards and challenges. Our stable and efficient nursing team is committed to our mission of providing excellent nursing practice that focuses on safe and quality patient care. We can boast of having a zero nursing vacancy rate with no use of agency nurses for the past nine years in our 15-bed medical-surgical and intermediate care unit, six-bed emergency department (ED), ambulatory surgical outpatient department, and ambulatory care center. We are currently doubling the size of our ED, and we will hire additional nurses beginning August 2007. Mutual respect and collaboration, which is evident in our day-to-day operations, characterize the relationship between management, physicians, and the health care team. We have the same opportunities and benefits as our other facilities within the Shands HealthCare system. We believe in the capabilities of our staff, maintain an open door policy in communication, and keep the BEST pillars of excellence alive. |
