Our cardiopulmonary department focuses on both the acute and critical care needs of our patients of all ages. Currently located within our main hospital at Shands at the University of Florida, we are the largest of the respiratory departments.

Exciting plans for further expansion will provide increased professional development opportunities for therapists who join us in one of these areas of expertise:

• Adult Acute Care
  Phlebotomy services, ECG, oximetry and general RT support, with advanced training in asthma education/certification
• Pediatric Critical Care
  ECMO team and neonatal/pediatric external transport
• Adult Critical Care
  All aspects of adult critical medicine, with an emphasis education, research and special programs (i.e. bio-terrorism/surge capacity training and preparation)

Therapists work 12-hour shifts within an academic learning environment, featuring monthly education programs and annual seminars. Cardiopulmonary Services also operates other specialized respiratory care areas, including:
