Shands Medical Plaza

Shands Rehab Center at Shands Medical Plaza offers physical, occupational, and massage therapy services for adolescent to geriatric patients. Services take place in a 3800-square foot, general practice, outpatient rehabilitation clinic, comprised of a spacious gym area, a staff office, and five private treatment rooms.

Our services are customized to the needs and goals of each patient. Therapy begins with an in-depth assessment of our patient's condition. Therapists examine patients' medical histories and objectively assess patients' strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function. Through development of an individualized, comprehensive plan of care, therapists resolve impairments, enabling patients to maximize functional independence and return to their desired or pre-injury level of function. Our clinicians focus on assessment and treatment techniques based on best practice patterns in their field.

Movement disorders (including Parkinson’s Disease, Dystonia, Tremors)
Cardiopulmonary dysfunction
Hand therapy (including custom splinting)
Cancer rehab
Occupational health and ergonomics

To assist patients in rehabilitation, Shands Medical Plaza features:

A full line of Cybex strength training equipment
Various modes of aerobic conditioning (treadmills, stationary bicycles, and upper body ergometers)
Biodex and BTE exercise and testing equipment
Built-in oxygen ports to support the treatment of patients with pulmonary dysfunction
Spinal traction, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation
