Shands Rehab Center at Magnolia Parke (Adult)

Shands Rehab Center at Magnolia Parke is an outpatient rehabilitation facility located on the northwest side of Gainesville. Our physical, occupational, hand, and massage therapists treat a variety of general orthopaedic problems for adolescent to geriatric patients.

We also offer specialty components in women’s health, cancer, cancer-related lymphedema, and therapeutic seating/wheelchairs. Our therapists hold certifications and specializations in manual therapy, lymphedema, hand therapy, and therapeutic seating/wheelchairs.

General Orthopedic Physical Therapy

At Magnolia Parke, physical therapists address the rehab needs of individuals who have post-orthopaedic injuries, pre- and post-orthopaedic surgeries, and general orthopaedic diagnoses. Comprehensive treatment may include strengthening, stretching, manual therapy, education, body mechanics, and modalities. Primary goals are for each individual to return to maximum function, improve quality of life, and gain independence with a home program to maintain maximum function.

Women’s Health

Physical therapists address the specific needs of women, including pre- and post-partum, pelvic floor weakness, pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, and osteoporosis as well as injury-related impairments. Our therapists have specialized training in these areas to ensure our customers have maximum return to function and independence with an improved quality of life.

Cancer Therapy

Physical therapists address the specific needs of cancer patients status post surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Treatment may include strength training, stretching, manual therapy, education, and lymphedema treatment. Each individual’s program is designed to promote a return to maximum independence, function, and quality of life after cancer treatment.

Lymphedema

For patients who present with lymphedema status post-cancer surgery or treatments, Shands Rehab offers Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT). Services are provided by a team of experienced and specialty trained therapists. CDT is a noninvasive, multi-component treatment for lymphedema that consists of Manual Lymph Drainage, compression therapy, decongestive exercises, and skin care. Education is emphasized for independent management, as well as for lymphedema prevention directly after surgery.
