Ambulatory Care Preceptor Information
Benjamin J. Epstein, PharmD, BCPSBenjamin J. Epstein, PharmD, BCPS is an assistant professor of Pharmacy and Medicine in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Division of Internal Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. He is also director of the Pharmacotherapy Clinic in Internal Medicine. He earned his PharmD from the University of Florida in 2003. Subsequently, he completed an Internal Medicine residency at the North Florida/ South Georgia Veterans Health System and returned to the University of Florida in 2004 as a postdoctoral fellow in Family Medicine in the departments of Pharmacy Practice and Community Health and Family Medicine. Dr. Epstein’s interests include cardiovascular disease and antimicrobial resistance. He has authored numerous articles and presented both nationally and internationally in these disciplines. He has authored articles published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Drugs, American Family Physician, and Pharmacotherapy. Dr. Epstein serves as a scientific reviewer for several journals including Emerging Infectious Diseases, Annals of Internal Medicine, The Medical Letter, Pharmacotherapy, and Annals of Pharmacotherapy. He is on the Specialty Consultants Panel for both the Pharmacist’s Letter and Prescriber’s Letter. He is an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). In 2005, Dr. Epstein was recognized as a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist by ACCP. back to topJ. William Harbilas, PharmDJ. William Harbilas, PharmD, is a clinical specialist in Ambulatory Services at Shands at the University of Florida and clinical assistant professor of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida. Dr. Harbilas received his BSP and PharmD from the University of Florida and completed a residency in Drug Information Services at Shands at the University of Florida. His past experience includes nearly all pharmacy settings. Bill's areas of interest include the ambulatory management of HIV and solid organ transplant, and he is the lead pharmacist for Shands' Charity Care Drug program. back to topJames R. Taylor, PharmDJames R. Taylor, PharmD is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Florida. Dr. Taylor received his PharmD from Ohio Northern University. Upon graduation, he completed an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice residency at The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Subsequently, he completed a Family Medicine residency at the University of Florida. Dr. Taylor joined the faculty at the University of Florida in July 1998 and is actively involved in teaching and coordinating courses in the College of Pharmacy. In addition, he regularly precepts PharmD students for their ambulatory care advanced practice experience. Dr. Taylor maintains several active clinical pharmacy practice sites in ambulatory care. In addition, he serves as director for the Eastside/University of Florida Primary Care Pharmacy Practice residency program. back to top |
