Getting Started with Shands at UF

Welcome to Shands at the University of Florida Volunteer Services.

Thank you for considering Shands at UF as a place to volunteer. The following information will help you get started:

  • Steps to completing the volunteer process are outlined on the application and in the Application Process link.
  • The Service Area Listing will allow you to explore the various volunteer opportunities.
  • Interviews for college-age volunteers are scheduled at the beginning of each semester (January, May, August).
  • Interviews for adult volunteers are available year round on an individual basis.
  • Volunteers are not accepted for court-ordered OR community service hours that need to be completed.

Volunteer opportunities are currently available with the Shands Gift Stop. There are three locations to choose from 1. Main shop (Shands at UF - North Campus) 2. Cancer Hospital -  South Campus & 3. Davis Cancer Pavilion.

Volunteers are also needed in the Ronald McDonald Family Room, located on the 10th Floor, Shands at UF - North Campus.

Both areas require at least a 6 month commitment & to volunteer at least 2x a month for a 4 hour shift.
