The Shands at
UF Volunteer Services department offers a wide range of
volunteering opportunities in over 145 service areas in
the hospital and outlying facilities:
Volunteers provide comfort
and support in a friendly, helpful manner. They assist with
patient and visitor escort, patient transportation, childcare,
adult visitation, tours, and patient mail service. They
provide pet therapy visits and raise funds that support
patient services and provide scholarships to special needs
students at UF College of Nursing and Health Related Professions.
They input and retrieve data, run errands, complete packets,
distribute books and magazines to patients and visitors,
and provide support to a variety of departments within the
facility.
As a volunteer, you can work
in the following areas on the days and times indicated:

| Operating Room - Volunteers are required to have a minimum of 60 volunteer hours with Shands prior to applying. Volunteers assist technicians in the OR. With permission, volunteers may be allowed in operating rooms during surgery. |
