Shands Live Oak provides families of Live Oak and the surrounding communities
a variety of health programs and services. Shands Live Oak is accredited by the Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation's predominant standards-setting and
accrediting body in healthcare.
- Emergency Room - We provide 24-hour emergency care. The Shands
Live Oak Emergency Room (ER) contains six beds and cares for an average of 1,200
patients each month. More than 14,000 patients are treated in our ER annually.
- Full-Service Laboratory - We offer comprehensive lab services,
including blood counts, cholesterol and liver tests, PSA tests for prostate screenings,
and more.
- Outpatient Specialty Clinics - Shands Live Oak features
outpatient clinics for pulmonology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, general surgery,
dermatology, urology, and oncology.
- Physical Therapy - We provide comprehensive inpatient and
outpatient rehab services for patients of all ages with a doctor's prescription.
Treatment programs are tailored to meet the needs of each individual. Physical therapy
services include, but are not limited to:

- Fibromyalgia
- General medical problems
- Motor vehicle injuries
- Neurological conditions

- Radiology - Shands Live Oak provides advanced radiology services, such as:
- Bone densitometry
- CT scan
- Ultrasound
- Mammography - The Shands Live Oak mammography program is accredited by the
American College of Radiology. We have some of the most advanced technology available.
The program is staffed by board-certified radiologists and certified technologists
who provide the kind of personal attention you deserve without leaving your community.
- Respiratory Care - Our respiratory care services offer PFTs;
arterial blood gas testing; and cardiac testing, including holter monitoring, EKGs,
EEGs, and stress tests.
- Surgery - Our surgery center has two fully equipped operating
rooms and a board-certified surgeon in general and colon and rectal surgery. The
surgery center can perform same-day outpatient surgeries such as:
- Appendectomies
- Thyroid surgery
- Colon and rectal surgeries
- Varicose vein ligation
- Hernia surgery
- Endoscopies
- Gynecologic surgery
- Urologic surgery
- Colonoscopies
