| Shands Lake Shore Medical Services
Shands Lake Shore offers a wide range of medical services and programs for
its patients:
- Medical professionals at Shands Lake Shore offers chemotherapy treatment under the direction of Dr. Waseem Khan and under
the care of certified RN's. Chemotherapy is offered for inpatient or outpatient treatment, depending on patient need,
and families are encouraged to stay with their loved ones during treatment
- Diabetes Education: Shands Lake Shore offers free diabetes education for Columbia, Union and Suwannee County residents.
- The Emergency Room (ER) has 12 beds with two trauma rooms. Our Cardiac
Pain Emergency Program includes a cardiac care room within the ER.
- Shands Lake Shore provides numerous services in heart care. University of Florida Jacksonville physicians from the UF Lake City Cardiovascular Center provide cardiac catheterizations in the Shands Lake Shore Cardiac Cath Lab.
- The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) contains nine beds.
- Obstetrics and Gynecology services include childbirth education classes and newborn hearing
screenings. The unit has six beds and three triage rooms. State-of-the-art 4D ultrasound is available for expectant mothers.
- Shands Lake Shore offers pediatric care in a dedicated unit for children from infancy
to age 17 with acute illnesses. A playroom is available to patients for their enjoyment and
as a distraction from their conditions.
- Physical Therapy and Rehab, including therapeutic massage therapy.
- Radiology handles nuclear medicine, ultrasound, MRI, mammography and teleradiology - PACS.
We also offer treatments from a C-ARM.
- Sports Medicine Clinics
- The Surgery and Operating Room contains two surgical rooms, one endoscopy room
and one cystology room. Our medical and surgical unit contains 34 beds.
