Playrooms

  • Playrooms are open during the day for pediatric patients and families to use
  • All patients and siblings must be supervised by an adult (18 years and up)
  • Volunteers may be available to provide supervision when parents cannot be here

Supervised Activity Groups

  • Please the check the activities calendar on each floor for supervised group times
  • Groups are run by a variety of trained volunteers and staff
  • Children that are unable to go to the playroom can get toys and activities for their room

Personal Computers & Internet Access

  • Shands does not provide internet access for the public
  • If you have an internet provider at home and choose to bring your computer with you to the hospital, you must call your provider and ask for a Gainesville dial-up number to connect through the phone line in your room. If possible, we recommend you do this prior to admission.
