Learn more about:
Emergency Department
The new Emergency Department is the largest in the region, with the capacity to treat up to 100,000 patients a year. It includes large private patient rooms and spacious trauma rooms, all arranged around a central nursing station for enhanced patient care. Pediatric services are also provided, as well as a pediatric waiting area specially designed for younger patients.
Radiology in the Emergency Department
Emergency Department and trauma service teams require immediate imaging to diagnose and treat patients as quickly as possible. The Shands Critical Care Center includes two digital radiography rooms, as well as imaging equipment in each of the four trauma rooms.
In addition, the hospital’s main Radiology Department is located next door to the Emergency Department. It is equipped with three sophisticated CT scanners, an MRI scanner, two ultrasound machines, two digital radiology rooms and a fluoroscopy room to provide comprehensive imaging technology.
ShandsCair
A helipad for the ShandsCair helicopter is located on the center of the new hospital tower’s roof to make the transport of trauma and emergency patients more efficient, speeding treatment when seconds count.
