All surgery patients at Shands AGH go to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) after surgery. Patients stay a minimum of one hour and always have one registered nurse assigned to manage their pain and care.

If the patient is being admitted to the hospital, the patient goes to the appropriate nursing unit after their stay in the PACU.
