Shands AGH is a full-service, not-for-profit hospital that provides patient-driven healthcare for the whole person - body, mind and spirit. The 367-bed hospital has a strong focus in heart care, cancer care, women's health, and emergency medicine.

Opening its doors in 1928, Shands AGH was Gainesville's first hospital and has been a major provider for health services for more than 75 years. Today it provides a wide range of medical services with more than 250 medical staff members representing 32 specialties.

In 1998, Shands AGH became Florida's first hospital to affiliate with Planetree. The basic principles of Planetree, coupled with Shands AGH's mission to provide patient-driven healthcare for the whole person, makes this a unique healing environment.
