Below are some guidelines to supplement the instructions that you will receive from your surgeon. Your surgeon will authorize your discharge from Shands Florida Surgical Center.

• Follow your surgeon's instructions regarding diet, rest and medications.
• We recommend that you not drive, make important decisions, or sign any important papers for at least 24 hours following a surgical procedure.
• In the event of any difficulty, you should call your physician's office.
• One of our nursing staff members will call you at home within 72 hours following surgery to check on your progress.
